Sustainable Hawaii Education Program
Aloha+ Challenge Goals
Kuleana covers the different areas of the State of Hawaii's recognized goals of becoming a sustainable state. A minimum of (2) aloha+ challenge goals should be met in each program.
Visiting high school students from Japan will be broken up into even amount of groups and 1 local high school student and 1 local college student will be assigned to each group of Japanese students for small group collaboration.
Local High School Students
Current students from any high school in Hawaii (ages 13 ~ 18).
Local high school students who have an interest or has the mindset of doing projects relating to sustainability would benefit the most from this program. In collaboration with visiting students from Japan, the local students will get to exchange ideas, language, and culture while gaining unbreakable friendships.
Japanese High School Students
Visiting participating students from Japan from the same high school.
The visiting students, many of which would be visiting Hawaii for the first time, will collaborate with the local students in ENGLISH and will need to think critically about sustainability in both their hometowns and in Hawaii.
College students from any college in Hawaii (ages 18~29)
LbE Hawaii's own leader staff who act as mentors and escorts to the high school participants. Islanders are trained, reliable, and responsible for the well-being and education of the high school participants.
